Pilkington Recs A couldn’t quite claim victory in a pre season friendly against Thatto Heath B at Ruskin Drive.
The St Helens side, whose senior side were NCL champions last season after a tense grand final against Siddal, were first on the board after just five minutes.
It was a first half that went largely without incident, but Pilks were able to level not long before half time as Brandon Lewis was able to touch down. Rob Marsh was unsuccessful with his conversion attempt, but it gave Pilks something to build on going into half time.
A further two unanswered tries then won the game for Thatto Heath. Jacob Cummings did pull one back for Pilks but another try right on full time killed the game off for the Red, Amber and Black.
The Pilks A now have a month to right the wrongs of this game as they prepare for their first game against Wigan St Patricks A at Ruskin Drive.
