Just when Pilks should have travelling to East Yorkshire, read our NCL History with them.

Defending NCL Champions West Hull were due to welcome Pilks this weekend, so we decided to look back on our history with them.
Both teams were part of the inaugural NCL season, and West Hull won the competition in 1989. Pilks then resigned from the league in 1991.
The same year saw West Hull get relegated to Division Two, but they bounced straight back.
West Hull won the NCL title again in 1997, 1999, 2000, 2001 and 2002. They were relegated again in 2005, but once again bounced straight back.
They won it again in 2014, as Pilks were starting to climb up the NCL Divisions following their readmission two years earlier.
Pilks were promoted to the Premier Division in 2016, and the pair would have their first battles since the early days of the National League.
It came at Liverpool-St Helens, due to the rugby union team having a fixture on the Ruskin Drive pitch.
Kyran Knapper scored two tries as Pilks were beaten 22-8 at their makeshift home.
In the reverse fixture, West Hull completed a double over Pilks with a 26-18 win. Owen Livesey scored two tries, and there were others from Knapper and Greg Smith.
Pilks were able to consolidate their place in the NCL Premier Division that year, while West Hull were narrowly beaten in the Grand Final by Leigh Miners Rangers.
In 2017, the first meeting between the two teams took place at Ruskin Drive, which ended in a 32-4 defeat, Jake Hodson scoring the only try for Pilks.
With Pilks already relegated by this point, the two met on the final day of the season, with West Hull coming out 30-26 winners. Ryan Hilliard, Tom Chisnall, Ian Stanley, Danny Lynch and Alex McClurg were all on target, but it wasn't enough for Pilks. West Hull made the playoffs, but were beaten by Rochdale Mayfield.
Since Pilks went down, West Hull claimed another NCL title in 2019. The pair also met in the 2020 Challenge Cup, with the Green and Golds coming out on top.
The match certainly would have been a big test for Pilks. Both sides love to throw the ball around, so it would have been an easy contest on the eye.

With thanks to Pilks first-team sponsors: Hatton's Premier Class, AMDEC Forklifts, LMTravel and O'Neills.
