Pilkington Recs will be playing their first competitive game of 2018 as they travel to Newcastle to take on Wallsend Eagles in the first round of the Challenge Cup on Saturday.
The Eagles play in the Rugby League Conference North East Premier and finished as champions in 2016.
The Pilks will be hoping for a similar run as they have had in the past few years. In 2016, they beat London Skolars on the way to reaching the third round of the competition, where they were soundly beaten by Halifax.
A year later, they reached the second time, they lost out to Siddal and could have earned what could have been a historic tie against Canadian expansion team Toronto Wolfpack.
They will be looking to start the season in the right way after suffering relegation from the National Conference League Premier Division after three years. And a good Challenge Cup run could do wonders for the club on and off the pitch. We will be doing live updates on Twitter, so please follow our page @PilksRecsARLFC
